The Medical Ultrasound Society, Singapore was formed in November 1997 with members comprising of medical practitioners and sonographers who perform diagnostic ultrasound, and associates from the ultrasound equipment industry.

Our core objectives are to:

1) Advance the science and practice of medical sonography and allied subjects.

2) Promote education, training and research in the technical aspects of ultrasound in medicine.

3) Foster and preserve unity of professionals in medical ultrasound in Singapore.

Our activities include:

1) Regular ultrasound updates

These are small groups meetings where presentations covering a wide range of topics are presented by members from various medical institutions or hospitals in Singapore.

2) Annual Seminar

This is the main scientific meeting of the Society and is held annually. The programme includes lectures by overseas and local speakers, scientific paper/poster presentations, technical exhibition and of course, a chance to catch up, socialise and network.

The diverse topics covered by the Seminars may sometimes appear unrelated, only linked by the common use of ultrasound. But, in the words of the founding President, Dr Chintana C Wilde (1997-2004) “the opportunity for cross-fertilisation of ideas and the chance to learn more about the new and varied applications of ultrasound is what we hope our members will embrace and enjoy”.
